![]() Therefore, I went with Blue Iris 5 just simply because the Live stream quality is correctly 4k HD, it is a lighter weight application, and I dont have to bounce between multiple programs to manage/view my cameras. Milestone support said their live stream "automatically" adjusts live stream quality based on bandwidth. My camera is a 4k and the "Smart Client" (the xprotect live stream viewer) makes my camera main-stream video look like its from a '06 flip phone. The Milestone Live stream quality is absolutely horrendous! I'd sooner use VLC player via RTSP than see that garbage. The Blue Iris layout is a bit confusing at first (especially setting up the livestream grid) and all the controls are icons without text although most have tooltip captions. You have to make the FPS change on the camera - not BlueIris itself.Īt home I have BI running on one of those tiny MiniX Z83-4 desktops (Quad Core Cherry Trail with 4Gb RAM). ![]() Tip to lower the CPU utilization substantially - if you lower the Frames Per Second from the standard 30FPS to 10FPS on the camera the CPU utilization will drop way way down (in my case it went from a constant 60-70% (18 cameras on one system) to 20%. I use the Web Server all the time to remote into my cameras - have them send me an email when motion is detected with the Web URL (in case I lose it). Nice thing is that you can run it as a Windows Service so that it starts when the machine boots. Have one instance running on a Win 7 machine and another on Win 10. I can attest to the fact that it's rock solid - never had either instance crash in all that time. Run a couple instances of BlueIris now for about 4 years.
